10 days to find a new #9.
Two weeks ago Barcelona were dealt a massive injury blow as their star striker Luis Suarez suffered a knee injury against Atletico Madrid. The Uruguayan has been ruled out for the rest of the season, leaving a huge hole to fill in the Catalan side. As a result, there have been numerous transfer rumours linking several of Europe’s top strikers to come to Quique Setien’s aid.
#4 – Timo Werner
The German has been on on the radar of many of Europe’s elites, with Liverpool, Chelsea and Man United all reportedly monitoring the in-form striker. It is believed that Barca have now also joined the race, with just 10 days left for the Winter transfer window. Werner has very impressively led RB Leipzig to the top of the Bundesliga table with an incredible 20 goals in 18 games. His estimated cost is €60m , a price Barcelona will not hesitate to pay.
#3 – Lautaro Martinez
Another striker whose name has been heavily linked across Europe’s top teams, including Barca’s fierce rivals Real Madrid is Lautaro Martinez. The Argentinean has already managed to record 18 caps for his country at the age of 22, while scoring 9 times. He has been equally impressive for his club , grabbing 15 goals in 25 games across all competitions this season. Though Inter Milan will be desperate for him to stay, his mouth-watering €110m price tag might tempt the Milano side to cash in, while Messi’s presence could also have a huge influence on his decision.
#2 – Rodrigo
An experienced La Liga striker who is very much accustomed to the country, Rodrigo could be what Barcelona are looking for. He has been a regular in the Spanish national team throughout the last two years, therefore is used to playing with the likes of Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba and Gerard Pique. So far he has not had the best of seasons, scoring just 2 league goals, but Barca might view him as a safe bet considering their current situation.
#1 – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
There has been much speculation regarding the departure of Arsenal’s main star. The former Dortmund striker has been standing out in what has been a torrid season for Arsenal, but has reportedly had enough of his side’s weak displays and is looking to jump ship. At the age of 30 his current evaluation stands at €70m, yet the 18/19 EPL Golden Boot winner is a player which every side would wish to have in their ranks, and could potentially fit in brilliantly with Setien’s style of play.
